Caitlyn

Meet Caitlyn. Kate and I have known Caitlyn for a few years. She’s a good friend and one of our kids’ favorite people (besides Mommy and Daddy of course). She’s a few years past “senior portraits” but we wanted to help her out since she didn’t have the opportunity to get senior pictures when she was still in school.

Fight the Current (teaser)

I had a great time last night at The Showbox at the Market shooting back stage for Fight the Current. I also had the chance to take a couple pictures of the opening bands: [Again and Again] and Stereo America. Here’s a few shots straight from the camera with no processing. I’ll post a larger set of Fight the Current in the not-too-distant future.

Family Walk

One of our favorite things to do as family is to go out on a walk around the neighborhood on a nice night after dinner. Finally, despite the occasional hail, snow, ice, thunderstorm, tornado, and general meteorological apocalypse that Seattle has enjoyed lately, there have been a few nights that were tame enough for us to venture out. Here are some pictures of our first family walk of ‘09.

I saw the guard rail and thought it’s be pretty funny to have Blaise posed up against it, so I put him there and showed him how to lean up against it and cross his legs. Now, pretty much every time I pick up a camera he runs over to the nearest wall, leans against it, and crosses his legs. He’s so awesome!

Drink Beer! Raise Money! Save Lives!

pouring beerWe are proud to be sponsors this year of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Fremont Troll Stroll.

Our five-year-old niece, Ella, was diagnosed with CF a few years ago. CF is a life-shortening disease that causes the body to produce a thick sticky mucus. Accumulation of this mucus impairs the lungs and other organ’s abilities to to do their job. Currently the average person with CF will live to be in their mid-thirties. Please help us raise money to support CF treatment research. For a little glimpse of what Ella’s life is like, check out this short bio on Ella (especially the video near the bottom of the page).

The “Troll Stroll” will take place on Saturday April 18th, from 1:00pm-5:00pm in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. Please sign up for the event and come out on Saturday to enjoy great beer at 10 awesome pubs and help save our niece’s life. It only costs $40 and you get a 7oz beer from each of the pubs, a T-shirt and admission to the “after party” at Nectar Lounge with a live band. All proceeds go to the CF Foundation and each of pubs are donating percentages of their sales that day as well.

Please sign up and come out for a good cause. You can read more about the specifics of CF here. Also, be sure to check out the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s website for information on how you can get involved and updated information on the current state of research.

When you sign up, in the “notes” section at the bottom of the registration form, please mentioned that we referred you to the event. – Thanks

Matthew & Jennifer

Matthew and Jennifer got married at Mars Hill Church’s West Seattle campus and they had a casual reception just down that road at Lincoln Park. Matthew and I had crossed paths a few times before I shot their wedding, but since then, we’ve found our circles overlapping even more. They are a great couple and it was wonderful to document their day for them. Matthew is a photographer as well. You can see some of is photos at www.doubleshotoflife.com. Rumor has it that his work with be on display somewhere in Ballard in the not-to-distant future.

Josh & Robin

Josh and Robin got married last summer at Greenwood Christian Church.  Their reception was at the Queen City Yacht Club.  We also took some pictures at the smallest public park in the city.

Curtis & Carrie

Another great family family that we had the opportunity to photograph was Curtis and Carrie’s. They and their three kids were fun and relaxed and a joy to work with. These pictures were shot at their house in Seattle the day before they move to New Mexico. It was so wonderful to be a part of documenting their life in Seattle and the memories of this house.

New Years Resolution… only 2 weeks late

I’m officially making a resolution to blog more regularly this year… nevermind that I’m two weeks late on starting my resolution. I think it would be a wonderful thing if I can manage to get something new posted once a week. Lord willing, I’ll have enough work this year to actually have something new to show at least once a week.

But first, I need to clean out my back-log. Between Kate and myself we did quite a few family sessions this past holiday season. Here’s the first of several family sessions that I’ll be sharing with you in the next few weeks. It was a very cold day at Gasworks Park, but they were troopers despite the red noses and chattering teeth.

Derek & Misha

Here are some of my favorite pictures from Derek and Misha’s wedding at Mars Hill Church’s West Seattle campus. Their reception was held at The Hall at Fauntleroy. It was a very fun “afternoon tea” themed reception.

As you can see, Misha looked beautiful. These guys were very fun and we had a blast hanging out with them for a day!

A Note from Callie

We just received this note in the mail:

Thank you so much for being our photographers. The pictures turn out great. Everyone has commented on how great the pictures are. One of my co-workers said, “These are the best wedding pictures I have ever seen.” Thanks for a great job!”

Thanks Callie!!! We had a great time at your wedding and enjoyed you, Devin, and your guests immensely! We feel blessed to photograph such a wonderful couple.

Devin & Callie

Here are some pictures from Devin and Callie’s wedding. The wedding was at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle. We also took some pictures at the ever-popular Kerry Park and the less-known, but wonderful secret, Parson’s Garden.
