The Marstons
Every year we have had the privilege of taking Christmas pictures for the Marston family and this year is no exception. It’s so wonderful to be a part of chronicling the girls as they get older.

Jason + Tiffany
I recently had the privilege of spending a morning running around with Jason and Tiffany and their kids. There such a great family and their kids are so fun and sweet together. I wish I could spend all of my time playing with awesome families like theirs.–That is of course, when I’m not having funny with my own awesome family. Speaking of which, stay tuned for some pumpkin patch and halloween fun from the family in a few days.

I asked Josiah how much he loved fire trucks. This was his answer.

The Latest from Micah & Jen
A few weeks ago I posted an image from the latest family shoot with Micah & Jen. Here’s a few more now that I’ve had chance to wade through all of the pictures from that evening. Such a fun family!

Nicole’s Album
We just sent Nicole her album from her maternity shoot. It’s a 4×6 brag book style with a beautiful silk brocade cover. (One of these is included by default in all maternity, family and other portrait shoots. You can also upgrade to a 5×7, 8×10, 11×14, or square 8″, 10″, or 12″ album if you want a coffee-table book.) I really like the pictures she picked for the album too. It all fits together really well.

Fresh from the camera
Tonight I had the pleasure of shooting Micah and Jenn’s family once again. They are good friends and one of my most favorite families to shoot. They wanted to get some updated family pictures to include their new baby boy. Here’s a great one of the kids, straight from the camera, with no post processing or photoshop. Stay tuned for a full showcase in a few days.

Jason & Nicole + 2
I (Katie) had the pleasure of doing a maternity session on Saturday with a really wonderful couple, Jason and Nicole—yup, that’s right, Jon doesn’t do maternity sessions! They found us via our church, and I am so glad they did. I had a really fun morning playing in their big backyard with their sweet daughter Coral, who was so patient with me as she was in and out of pictures, despite the fact that she hadn’t even had breakfast yet! I was really blessed to see how sweet and tender Jason and Nicole were with each other, and with Coral—I love to see couples that are best friends and deeply in love, and growing happy families too! Thanks for a fun morning, Jason and Nicole, and many blessings for you as you have this new baby!

Family Walk
One of our favorite things to do as family is to go out on a walk around the neighborhood on a nice night after dinner. Finally, despite the occasional hail, snow, ice, thunderstorm, tornado, and general meteorological apocalypse that Seattle has enjoyed lately, there have been a few nights that were tame enough for us to venture out. Here are some pictures of our first family walk of ‘09.

I saw the guard rail and thought it’s be pretty funny to have Blaise posed up against it, so I put him there and showed him how to lean up against it and cross his legs. Now, pretty much every time I pick up a camera he runs over to the nearest wall, leans against it, and crosses his legs. He’s so awesome!

Drink Beer! Raise Money! Save Lives!
We are proud to be sponsors this year of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Fremont Troll Stroll.
Our five-year-old niece, Ella, was diagnosed with CF a few years ago. CF is a life-shortening disease that causes the body to produce a thick sticky mucus. Accumulation of this mucus impairs the lungs and other organ’s abilities to to do their job. Currently the average person with CF will live to be in their mid-thirties. Please help us raise money to support CF treatment research. For a little glimpse of what Ella’s life is like, check out this short bio on Ella (especially the video near the bottom of the page).
The “Troll Stroll” will take place on Saturday April 18th, from 1:00pm-5:00pm in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood. Please sign up for the event and come out on Saturday to enjoy great beer at 10 awesome pubs and help save our niece’s life. It only costs $40 and you get a 7oz beer from each of the pubs, a T-shirt and admission to the “after party” at Nectar Lounge with a live band. All proceeds go to the CF Foundation and each of pubs are donating percentages of their sales that day as well.
Please sign up and come out for a good cause. You can read more about the specifics of CF here. Also, be sure to check out the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s website for information on how you can get involved and updated information on the current state of research.

When you sign up, in the “notes” section at the bottom of the registration form, please mentioned that we referred you to the event. – Thanks

Meet Audrey
Audrey’s parents got in touch with us to set up some “before and after” portrait sessions. Kate did the maternity session and I did the newborn session. Audrey gave everyone a bit of a scare after she was born and spent a little time in the hospital, but she’s doing great now. She’s a very sweet lady.

Matt & Leah
Meet our friends Matt and Leah. Kate and I have know them for years. Matt and I met on our first day of college orientation. A few years later Kate and Leah were roommates. I has been a joy to get to know them over the years. Kate did maternity pictures for Leah when she was pregnant. It’s hard to believe that their daughter is already a year old!

Curtis & Carrie
Another great family family that we had the opportunity to photograph was Curtis and Carrie’s. They and their three kids were fun and relaxed and a joy to work with. These pictures were shot at their house in Seattle the day before they move to New Mexico. It was so wonderful to be a part of documenting their life in Seattle and the memories of this house.

New Years Resolution… only 2 weeks late
I’m officially making a resolution to blog more regularly this year… nevermind that I’m two weeks late on starting my resolution. I think it would be a wonderful thing if I can manage to get something new posted once a week. Lord willing, I’ll have enough work this year to actually have something new to show at least once a week.
But first, I need to clean out my back-log. Between Kate and myself we did quite a few family sessions this past holiday season. Here’s the first of several family sessions that I’ll be sharing with you in the next few weeks. It was a very cold day at Gasworks Park, but they were troopers despite the red noses and chattering teeth.

Micah & Jenn
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Micah & Jenn for a couple years now and I’ve had the privilege of documenting their family’s growth multiple times over the years. I love when I get the opportunity to work with the clients more than once. I think it helps them to be more comfortable and it helps me to be able to capture them more naturally. I hope that Micah and Jenn are as happy with this portraits as I am.

We also got to introduce Evy to Kate’s family and celebrate Great-Grandma’s birthday. Here’s some highlights from the trip.
