Happy Halloween! or Night of the Living Dead…

Here are a few shots from an anniversary/Halloween party I covered last week. The couple got married on Oct 30th. Every year, to celebrate their anniversary they host a themed party. Past year’s themes have been the likes of literary characters, video games, comic books, and science fiction. This year’s theme was Zombies. The most important shot of the night for them was one of the whole group “shambling” toward the building… presumably to eat my brains.

Have a creepy Halloween!

Vacation Highlights

A couple weeks ago we went to visit family in Denver and Chicago. We hung out with my brother and his family. We don’t see them very much so it was great to catch up and let the cousins play together.

We also got to introduce Evy to Kate’s family and celebrate Great-Grandma’s birthday. Here’s some highlights from the trip.

Family 1
Evy got a lot of snuggles.
Family 2
Blaise had fun with the cousins.
Family 3
It’s really hard to get five kids five and under to sit still!
Family 4
Evy got to meet Grandpa for the first time…
Family 5
… and Great-Grandma.
Family 6
Blaise and Grandpa read a lot of books.
Family 7
And Great-Grandma celebrated 80 years of youth!

Off to Chicago

We leave in less that 6 hours for Chicago, with two kids under two in tow. It should be a fabulous adventure. I’ll post some pictures of the trip when we get back.

Seattle OneLight Follow-up

The Seattle OneLight workshop on August 11 was a blast!  About 15 photographers showed-up at the Mars Hill Church Downtown campus for a very long day of training and practice.  It was great to see Zack again and meet his awesome wife Meghan Coffee. Meghan will be playing at the Triple Door on August 25th. You should definitely come check her out.

Here’s a few shots from the workshop. Once I get through all my images, I’ll post a few of my favorites.

That last one of me was taken by my friend Doug. It was a complete accident. I was reaching up to adjust the light and he bumped the shutter. I really like it though…

Seattle One-Light!

A little over a year ago, we had the priveledge of meeting Zack Arias a phenomenal music photographer based out of Atlanta. He was in town to put on one of his One Light Workshops. Through a series of random events he ended up crashing at our house for a couple days. He helped me shoot a wedding, checked out our church, wrestled with our (then 9 month old) son and taught me a ton of invaluable photography tricks. What I learned from him launched me years ahead of where I was and I cannot say enough good things about Zack.

On Monday 8/11, we’re hosting another Seattle One-Light Workshop. Sadly, the the workshop is already sold out… It actually sold out before we had a firm date and location. But, there’s good news! The night before (8/10) at 7:30, there will be a One-Light mixer at the Belltown Bistro in downtown Seattle. If you’re reading this and you’re a professional photographer, you’re invited.

I’m so excited to hang out with Zack again!
